About this blog

Why do we dress girls in pink? Why are boys taught not to cry? Why are some male animals monogamous, while others have harems? Why is “spoon” a masculine word in some languages, and feminine in others, and how does that make us think about spoons? Gender issues are all around us, but they are often so taken for granted that they seem invisible. But what we think about feminine, masculine, and everything in between, shapes our world views and lives. Our assumptions and stereotypes about gender issues are manifested in myriads of ways, both deeply tragic, and extremely funny. Here are some of my gender observations. Some might be reflections about main headlines in the news, while others may be small oddities in the daily life. You might not agree with them, but that’s OK. In any case, I hope this blog also will make you re-discover the world through gendered glasses.
